Reading with a Difference! For students who have print or writing disabilities, or who are unable to read text on a page or hold the page to read or a pen to write, LISTENING and TALKING might be the key to learning and achievement for them. In this digital age, and in working with students with disabilities who may be unable to read, or unable to hold the book to read, we need to shift our focus. Instead of using the age-old 'reading-text-on-a-page' method of learning, let's investigate the many exciting options we have available now due to new technology growth! Books and information can be adapted in many different ways. There are almost limitless ways to create and to use adapted materials, sound, text files and computer based media and information. These concepts will be explored more fully in the following pages. Video clip instructions and information can be viewed here.
