Read Out:Loud

The FREE version of Read:OutLoud is available to you when you sign up for Bookshare.  Don Johnston publishes this program and also provides a training video for their READ:OutLoud software.


Bookshare offers approximately 117,000 digital books, textbooks, teacher-recommended reading, periodicals and assistive technology tools (ONLY for students with qualifying print disabilities).


Read:OutLoud will open and read Daisy adapted books from Bookshare. This program is free and parents at home can download and use the program at home. (only for qualifying students).

Read:OutLoud features:
  • Text-to-speech reads Bookshare content
  • eHighlighter and Note tools cultivate text-to-self connections
  • Bibliographer logs and organizes sources in a structured step-by-step process

Outlining feature:  students can create outlines and pull out key information into outlines with subsections.
